Rio 2016 Summer Olympics 1.5°C Campaign *

A powerful identity campaign developed for the Rio 2016 Olympics—elevating 1.5°C into a universal climate symbol and mobilizing athletes and audiences alike in the fight for a sustainable future.

Raising voices for climate at Rio 2016.

At the Rio 2016 Olympic Games, over 100 elite athletes united to deliver a powerful message: while breaking sports records is their mission, there’s one record the world must protect—1.5°C. As part of the Games’ broader commitment to sustainability and climate awareness, this campaign amplified the urgency of limiting global temperature rise, turning data into a memorable, emotional call for clean energy and sustainable living.

A modular system built for global reach.

In partnership with Purpose agency, a bold identity system was created to transcend language and cultural barriers, ensuring the campaign resonated worldwide. From multilingual posters and social media assets to apparel, tattoos, and even a reimagined caution sign—each element was designed to be unmistakable, highly shareable, and capable of sparking conversation across Olympic venues and beyond.
